Frequently Asked Questions
My 30-minute consultation (available in-person, via video, or by phone) is a warm, pressure-free way to explore working together. We'll discuss what's bringing you in, address any specific needs, and answer your questions so you can decide if my approach feels right for you.
If it's a good fit, we can book your first appointment; if not, I'm more than happy to help connect you with other trusted professionals. My priority is making sure you get the exact care you need.
My office is conveniently located in Wheat Ridge, right near the intersection of I-70 and Kipling Street. The building sits right alongside Clear Creek, with plenty of easy, free parking on the west side of the building.
When you schedule your appointment through the client portal, you'll select whether you'd like to meet in person or online. Before an online session, you'll receive a secure video link. At the time of our appointment, I recommend finding a private, comfortable space where you feel safe to speak freely, and using a device with a screen large enough to see each other easily (like a laptop or tablet).
Online therapy is very similar to in-person care in its focus and depth, though it does have some natural limitations. It's much like the difference between meeting someone in person and connecting over Zoom. While meeting over video has a slightly different rhythm than sharing the same physical room, being able to see each other, hear each other's voices, and connect in real time still allows for deeply powerful and meaningful work.
I see clients Tuesday through Thursday during the day and evening, as well as daytime hours on Saturdays. You're welcome to check my live calendar in the client portal to see current availability and request a time slot that works best for you!
Setting up your initial appointment is simple! You're welcome to follow the link to my secure client portal, where you'll have direct access to my live calendar.
Take a look at the available times, pick a slot that fits smoothly into your schedule, and submit your request. Once I receive it, I'll confirm your time and send over everything you need to get started.
In our first session, we'll start by getting the practical housekeeping stuff out of the way: answering any questions about scheduling, payments, or how we stay in touch, so you feel settled and at ease. Over the next couple of sessions, we'll work together to map out a clear picture of what's going on, clarify what you hope to accomplish, and outline our first steps. I want to ensure we're aligned and excited about the path ahead.
As our work unfolds, our focus will naturally refine, always anchored by your overall goals, tuned to what you need in the moment, and responsive to whatever is active in the room. Every session is tailored specifically to you.
The length of therapy is completely tailored to you. Some clients come in for focused, short-term support, like navigating an acute crisis, working through a specific challenge, or building practical skills for immediate relief. Others choose to stay longer to unpack complex trauma, heal deeper emotional layers, or explore bigger-picture personal growth.
There is no fixed timeline or rigid agenda. The duration depends on the complexity of what you hope to accomplish, the pacing that feels safe and doable for you, and the momentum built both during sessions and in your daily life. I want you to always feel like you have full ownership of your journey.
First and foremost, bring your beautiful self! Beyond that, feel free to bring a notebook or journal if you'd like to capture insights as they hit you or share reflections from your week. If we talked about any homework or intentions, bring those along too.
Shoes are completely optional once you sink into the cozy couch, though pants or a covering of some kind are definitely required! Above all, just bring whatever helps you feel comfortable.
No, I do not work directly with insurance companies and operate as an out-of-network provider. Working out-of-network allows me to keep your care entirely private and tailored to your personal goals, without insurance mandates, required diagnoses, or session limits. If your plan includes out-of-network coverage, I am happy to provide you with a monthly itemized receipt (a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
As a therapist, I do not prescribe medication. However, if medication could be a helpful tool in your overall care, I am more than happy to connect you with a trusted prescribing provider. With your permission, I will coordinate closely with them so your therapy and medication management work seamlessly together.
Your session actually begins before you step into my office. When you arrive, give yourself a few extra minutes in the waiting room to transition out of "busy mode." Grab some tea, take a slow breath, and shed the noise of the day so you can make room for what you want to work on.
During our time together, feel free to jot down key nuggets and insights in a notebook so you have a tangible anchor to take with you. Outside the office, review those notes each morning. It's a simple way to keep your intentions fresh, tune into your intuition, experiment with new ways of responding to stress, and process ideas through journaling or reading.
Therapy is a collaborative effort, and real, lasting transformation happens when you bring that same focus to your life between sessions.
You are welcome to come completely all-natural, full glam, or anywhere in between. Tears are a completely natural and healthy part of processing hard things.
If your makeup runs or smudges during session, don't worry for a second: I keep makeup remover pads and soft tissues within arm's reach at all times. Come as you are, mascara or not!
First, I'll probably have to suppress the urge to run and hide, mostly because you'll catch me in mismatched clothes, zero makeup, and hair that looks like I just survived a windstorm!
On a serious note, I will always take my lead from you to protect your privacy and confidentiality. If you choose to say hello, I'll happily greet you. But if you'd prefer not to acknowledge our relationship in public, I will treat you just like any other stranger, with a simple smile, a warm twinkle in my eye, and total respect for your space.
